Octopus Talk with OctoGirl Dr. Chelsea Bennice
Octopuses break almost every rule you think you know about animal intelligence, and Dr. Chelsea Bennice has logged more than 1,000 hours underwater proving it.
Join us July 20 at 6pm for an evening with Dr. Bennice, the marine biologist and underwater photographer the ocean world knows as OctoGirl. Using her own photo and video work, she studies how octopuses behave, stay healthy, hide in plain sight, and bend their arms in ways that still puzzle scientists. Her talk, Octography, takes you on a virtual research dive into the lives of these eight armed problem solvers.
Dr. Bennice researches at Florida Atlantic University's Marine Science Laboratory, advises the octopus education nonprofit OctoNation, and appeared in National Geographic's Secrets of the Octopus. She brings the kind of firsthand field stories you only get from someone who has racked up this much bottom time chasing cephalopods.
