Pro Shop News

We have some exciting new dive gear in the Pro Shop. There’s a new Dive Alert available that not only makes noise on the surface but can also be used as a signaling device underwater. It’s called Dive Alert Plus and will fit standard or breathable inflators like the Air 2.

Scubapro has a host of new products already here and some on the way. Here already are a few new great fitting masks, a stylish yet practical laptop back pack and the new Scubapro hats come in two sizes. Arriving soon is the new hoseless computer called the Galileo Sol, some of you may have noticed the SC crew test diving this computer the past few months. What a great company that beta tests their computers prior to putting them on the market. Also on the way is the Bella BC, made just for women and the new G250V regulator, the V is for Vintage. This is a great looking, easy breathing second stage. Stop in and check these exciting new toys out!

The SC annual Labor Day party should not have been missed! Diving and the weather were great. Besides all the good food & drinks, we had a record number of photographers showcase their work. Murray Goldberg had photos from his recent trip to Costa Rica, Marynell Lubinski had some awesome whale shots, Chip Welfeld delighted us with his photos, Ernie Pentland showed fabulous critter shots from Lembeh Strait in Indonesia, Bobby Simpson had unusual shots of the S. FL Scuba Squad, Emilie Hendrix & Jay Moran treated us to graduation photos, Char Weston & Peggy Rafferty shared wreck photos from the Spiegel Grove in Key Largo, Gary Yoss had great pics from Cozumel, Christine Stapleton shared her images from London, Angela soon to be Jabour delighted us and Ernie with a potpourri of photos, Warren Durbin brought photos from the SC Cay Sal trip, Jim Prink had photos of ice diving & Hawaii, Margaret Shoemake allowed us to see her recent bird video from Duda Farms & JD premiered his latest two HD films from Micronesia & Cocos. These two films were also just shown at the San Diego Undersea Film Exhibition on October 12 & 13. More information on this film festival can be found at SDUFEX.com. His Micronesia video can be downloaded as an HD podcast through iTunes or you can catch it at Ocean.com. Mark Friday, December 7 on your calendars so that you don’t forget to join us for our annual SC Holiday Open House. Enjoy Ernie’s famous Cajun Fried Turkey along with many other hors d’oeuvers. Don’t worry, the famous SC Rum Punch will also be available to wash it all down. This party kicks off our Holiday Sale, where you will find the best equipment prices of the year. So set aside the evening of December 7 from 6-9 pm for some Holiday SC Cheer ! Please don’t miss this evening because this party just keeps getting better and better every year! Our entire staff will be here to help spread the holiday spirit and to answer any equipment questions. We hope to see everyone there!

Trip News

The 2008 Cocos Island, Costa Rica trip is fast approaching. The dates are August 17 – 29 and there are only three remaining spaces. You hear it all the time but ask anyone that has made this trip and they will tell you that it really is the trip of a lifetime! From schooling hammerhead sharks to giant manta rays, to swarms of jacks to swimming with wild dolphins and humpback whales, Cocos Island offers some of the best diving in the world! Give us a call if you have any questions about this trip.

JD is planning an exploratory trip to Indonesia this spring. Look for a possible SC trip to that part of the world in 2009. JD’s got it rough, what he won’t do for the members to put together a good dive trip.
