Chip Elliott

Chip

As the Jurassic period was coming to a close, Chip started at the Scuba Club as Pro Shop manager and has worked his way up to part time Sunday Captain and Divemaster. This is the one position that everyone in Palm Beach county is after… and the ole’ man makes it look so effortless. The year was 1979 when Chip piloted his van, the one down by the river, from Wichita, Kansas to his new home here in Palm Beach County. He had been certified to dive for nine years thru N.A.S.D.S. and had been a P.A.D.I. Instructor for a year. Chip’s Business Administration Degree from Wichita State University was heralded as a Masterpiece of education throughout the Midwest. Chip’s family moved from the backwoods of Missouri, he is from the Missouri Elliotts, to Wichita, Kansas. Chasing cows, attending a one room schoolhouse (where of course he graduated “summa cum laude”) and falling off horses sums up Chip’s formative years on the farm. By the way he has fallen off at least one horse in the past year.

Chip and Kathy, his bride of 15 years (how does she do it) pass their spare time taking care of three horses, three dogs (who thinks that he is a golf cart brake), one indoor cat, one indoor bird, three outdoor cats, and again only three horses, outdoor horses by the way. Chip’s weekday past time is spent trying to lower all of our taxes from his Federal Government position. I think that it is in the U.S. Treasury Department, but I am not sure. Just a few of Chip’s hobbies other than diving, include jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, rum tasting parties, horseback riding, corny joke telling, and pestering all of the Scuba Club employees. Chip is one of the “ole timers” here at the Scuba Club. He has taught most of the Staff something...from Divemaster & Rescue courses, to how to run the boat. Most of our practical jokes come out of Chip’s brain or from his own hand. If you hear someone laughing...It’s probably Chip.
