Advanced Openwater
The Advanced Open Water
program provides the diver with a structured, well-supervised means to gain
additional experience. The Advanced Open Water program involves students
in various underwater tasks that broaden their awareness of the environment and
their capabilities as divers.
This course gives the diver the needed certifiation for further Continuing Education
programs. The AOW certification is required to enroll in the Rescue Diver and Divemaster Program.
All students in the AOW program will complete the following dives:
- Underwater Navigation
- Deep Diving
In addition, 3 elective dives will be chosen from the following:
- Wreck Diving
- Night Diving
- Boat Diving
- Drift Diving
- Search and Recovery
- Multilevel Diving
- Underwater Naturalist
- Underwater Photography
- Peak Perfromance Bouyancy
- Equipment Specialist (no dive - classroom)
Pre-requisites: Open Water Diver (any agency), 15 years of age or older.
Students under the age of 15 may obtain a Junior Advanced Open Water rating
provided they can meet all the requirements for certification. The Junior Advanced
Open Water Diver certification carries the requirement that the individual must
dive with an adult.
Required Equipment: Underwater Compass, Underwater Light, Underwater Timing Device.
